STAFF THERAPIST POSITIONS

Womencare Counseling Center is a private group therapy practice founded by Laurie Kahn in 1978. At Womencare, we provide a wide range of services for women, men, adolescents, and children, including: individual, group, family, and couple counseling. We sponsor professional workshops, training groups and educational programs for the community. Some of our current areas of expertise include: feminist and relational therapy models, trauma, grief, and sexuality.

While our staff is full as of fall 2007, we periodically have openings for contracted staff therapists. Staff therapists build to a minimum caseload of 12 clients, and preferably 16-24. All clinicians are independent contractors, meaning that pay is based on a percentage of collected client fees, rather than salaried. Independent contractors are responsible for their own payroll taxes, and the positions do not include benefits (health care, liability insurance, paid time off). Womencare works in partnership with each therapist to develop her practice. Womencare does refer some clients to the clinician, and will also assist in building the capacity to generate direct referrals.

If you would like to submit an application for us to keep on file, please feel free to send a curriculum vitae with cover letter to the attention of Amy Steinhauer. We will keep applications on file for one year.

While Womencare is a private practice and not an agency, all therapists participate in the community of Womencare, attending staff meetings and group supervision, participating on committees, collaborating on cases… We believe in a relational approach, both in our work with clients and in our collegial relationships with one another. Successful candidates must be committed to working with racially, culturally, and sexually diverse populations. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.
