POSTGRADUATE
TRAINING PROGRAM AT WOMENCARE
This experientially-focused program is designed for master’s level therapists who would like advanced clinical training. The purpose of this twoyear program is to provide opportunities to deepen clinical skills and expand knowledge in a specialty area. Postgraduates will develop a clinical practice and participate in training and skill development though small-group supervision, individual mentoring and workshops. Womencare therapists are clinicians with expertise including traumatic stress, grief, sexuality, feminist therapy, adolescent development and mind/body integration. The first year of the postgraduate program is focused on developing skills in a relational-feminist model. Therapeutic relationships are built on mutuality and respect; they support both resilience and vulnerability. These are the cornerstones of our treatment approach. We think deeply about our clients in the emotional, interpersonal, and societal contexts in which their distress emerges. The second year of training is focused on the therapist’s individual learning goals and clinical interests. We support clinicians in reflecting on their identity as therapists, identifying learning pursuits that speak to them, and deepening knowledge and skill in areas they are passionate about. In both years of the program, we support clinical and personal growth through mentoring, clinical supervision, professional workshops, and in-service training. We are proud of the graduates of our program as they go on to make a difference in people’s lives and address the social, systemic, and political issues that impact the health and dignity of women. Applications are due by April 1. Applications are available for download at http://womencarecounseling.com/pdf/PG_Application_2007.pdf.
